About the Monthly Raob Data Report of Manual Quality Control

The Monthly Raob Data Report of Manual Quality Control is issued as soon as possible after the end of each calendar month. The report is the result of a compilation of entries in the Senior Duty Meteorologist (SDM) daily logs during the specified calendar month with emphasis on entries pertaining to data which were flagged for deletion. Raob stations in the North American regions which were most problematic will stand out in this report. The report divides the North American region (raob blocks 04, 70, 71, 72, 74, 76, 78, and also U.S. supported block 91 stations which include Hawaii and Pacific Island U.S.A. possessions) into two divisions. The first comprises the CONUS U.S.A. (blocks 72 and 74), and the second comprises all others (blocks 04, 70, 71, 76, 78, and 91). For both divisions, the report provides general quantitative information followed by a specific list of stations that had more than three citations during the month. Also, the author will render statements pertaining to trends or possible explanations for the more problematic stations.
