CREXLIB Software User Guide

This document set describes how to utilize the CREXLIB software to encode or decode CREX messages. It is not intended to be a primer on the CREX code form itself; rather, for that there are several good alternative resources available such as the WMO CREX Tables, which provide an excellent description of the CREX code form, or even the WMO Manual #306, Volume I.2 itself, which, although it is more of a technical document and thus contains all of the minute details and regulations, is nonetheless the "official" documentation of the CREX code form. Therefore, throughout the document set, we will assume at least some background knowledge of the basic concepts of CREX and will thus focus solely on how to use the CREXLIB software to encode or decode data from this code form.

To view any of the documents in the set, click on the "Table of Contents" link which follows:

The NCEP CREXLIB software is freely available, subject to the terms of the usual NWS disclaimer, and is downloadable as a UNIX tarfile. After downloading and unpacking (via "tar xvf") this tarfile, read and follow the instructions in the extracted file "README_CREXLIB" in order to compile the software.
