Previous Monthly Raob Data Reports of Manual Quality Control
SUBJECT: Monthly Raob Data Report of Manual Quality Control
The Raob Report for October, compiled from the Raob Recap statements in the
SDM logs, which does not necessarily include data that were rejected by
automated computer generated quality control, indicates the following:
(1) Reports from 40 U.S. stations (Blocks 72 and 74) were cited at least
once; 16 were cited at least twice; and 5 were cited at least three times.
Of those, the following were cited more than three times or had two or more no
reports:
STATION__ DEL BAS COR XRP EFL SHO TOTAL
72747/INL 8 8
72403/LWX 7 7
72451/DDC 5 5
72456/TOP 2 1 1 4
Station DDC reported ground equipment failures from the 27th of October
through the 29th. Manual deletions at stations INL, LWX, and TOP were all
due to super-adiabatic lapse rates/wet bulb effects.
(2) Reports from 47 stations in blocks 04, 70, 71, 76, 78 and 91 were cited
at least once; 29 were cited at least twice; and 10 were cited at least three
times. Of those, the following were cited more than three times or had two or
more no reports:
STATION__ DEL BAS COR XRP EFL SHO TOTAL
78384/GCM 28 28
76394/MTY 12 12
78397/KIN 5 5
91334/TKK 1 2 3 5*
91765/PPG 4 1 5
Station GCM reported ground equipment failures throughout most of October, and
station TKK reported ground equipment failures on the 28th and 29th of the
month. Manual deletions at station MTY were due to high heights and low
temperatures. Manual deletions at stations KIN, TKK, and PPG were all due
to super-adiabatic lapse rates/wet bulb effects.
* The total differs from the sum of the itemized citations
because of multiple citations in the same raob(s).
Citation Codes Key:
DEL All or part of the raob was flagged for deletion.
BAS A baseline hgt/station press error was corrected or purged.
COR At least one correction other than baseline was made.
XRP Station sent no report at all when one was required.
EFL Equipment failure (codes 10142, 10144, 10158, etc.)
SHO Raob flight was short; ie, to less than 400 mb.
