Monthly Raob Data Manual QC Report for Mar. 2022
Previous Monthly Raob Data Reports of Manual Quality Control
SUBJECT: Monthly Raob Data Report of Manual Quality Control
The Raob Report for March, compiled from the Raob Recap statements in the
SDM logs, which does not necessarily include data that were rejected by
automated computer generated quality control, indicates the following:
(1) Reports from 27 U.S. stations (Blocks 72 and 74) were cited at least
once; 13 were cited at least twice; and 6 were cited at least three times.
Of those, the following were cited more than three times or had two or more no
reports:
STATION__ DEL BAS COR XRP EFL SHO TOTAL
72208/CHS 1 44 44*
72318/RNK 21 20*
72202/MFL 4 4
72403/LWX 4 4
Station LWX reported a handful of ground equipment failures in March. Meanwhile,
stations CHS reported ground equipment failures throughout March, and RNK reported
ground equipment failures in the 2nd half of the month due to shortages of helium
supplies. Finally, all manual deletions flagged in this report were due to super-
adiabatic lapse rates.
(2) Reports from 45 stations in blocks 04, 70, 71, 76, 78 and 91 were cited
at least once; 23 were cited at least twice; and 13 were cited at least three
times. Of those, the following were cited more than three times or had two or
more no reports:
STATION__ DEL BAS COR XRP EFL SHO TOTAL
76405/LAP 49 48*
78988/CUR 22 22
76644/MID 18 18
76692/HYY 1 1 14 15*
70026/BRW 15 14*
76743/VHA 1 8 1 10
70361/YAK 9 9
91376/MAJ 5 5
76679/MEX 1 3 4
91348/PNI 4 4
Stations LAP, MID, HYY, and VHA reported flight equipment failures throughout
March, and stations CUR, YAK, MAJ, and MEX reported ground equipment failures.
Station BRW reported a mix of both types of failures. With the exception of one
baseline error related deletion of heights at HYY, the rest of the manual
deletions noted here were due to super-adiabatic lapse rates.
* The total differs from the sum of the itemized citations
because of multiple citations in the same raob(s).
Citation Codes Key:
DEL All or part of the raob was flagged for deletion.
BAS A baseline hgt/station press error was corrected or purged.
COR At least one correction other than baseline was made.
XRP Station sent no report at all when one was required.
EFL Equipment failure (codes 10142, 10144, 10158, etc.)
SHO Raob flight was short; ie, to less than 400 mb.
