The EXEC command is the most powerful of the DBNet commands. The EXEC
command gives the administrator complete control over what program to run when
an ALERT is received
and whether more than one instance of the program should be active at a time. Multiple instances
of a program can be run at the same time if the "multi" flag as part of the parsing
table entry. The "multi" or "single" flag apply to the name of the executable program.
The EXEC command has the following options:
- $1 - $9 are the
respective fields from the ALERT message. These values can actually be from any format
file but will be the appropriate numbered field from the first line of the ALERT file.
- $f is the name of the DBNet ALERT file that caused this command.
