Example how to use netCDF input for winds and pressure in SCHISM model There are 2 options which you can chose in param.in; 1) nws = 6 This is option to use regridded Uwind, Vwind and Pair variables onto SCHISM grid defined in UVP_direct.nc file. Structure is like in UVP_direct.cdl.sample file, all you need to do is update NNODES to number of nodes in your model grid. Then use simple ncgen to create netCDF file and after that fill it up with variables using whatever you know (matlab, python, ...). It doesn't matter if nodes are making quads or some other structure then triangles, it's your responsibility to interpolate atmo fields correctly onto SCHISM node locations. Benefit of this format is to have netCDF compressed/organized file with smaller size then txt. Subroutine is just reading records from netCDF file separated with wtiminc interval, it is not using lon, lat, ele or wind_time variables (they are there for you to have idea about location and time of atmo fields for easy plotting). 2) nws = 5 This option is using UVP.nc which is holding Uwind, Vwind and Pair defined on atmospheric model (time, lat, lon). It is using simple bilinear interpolation with precomputed weights (interp_atmo.gr3). Computing those weights is easy using make_schism_interp_coef.m (provided). Subroutine is reading those weights in schism_init and then use them for each wtiminc interval when reading netCDF file. It is not using wind_time variable, it is just for you to have idea about time, you have to use wtiminc to define time interval between records.
