NCEP Documentation on Creation of AMS DataStreme Products
The American Meteorological Society's DataStreme program provides
weather products on a web page to support K-12 education.
Currently, NCEP generates approximately 125 weather products per hour
to support this web page. The products include graphics of
surface observations, upper air observations, radar summaries and
satellite imagery. Also, meteograms for selected stations around the
United States, stuve diagrams and state text bulletins are generated
for the AMS web page.
This project strengthens NCEP's partnership with the AMS, a major
organization in the meteorological community. Also, it provides NCEP
with an important tie to the educational community.
DataStreme Processing
Each hour, NCEP server ncosrv3 automatically invokes a script to begin
the processing for that hour. This automatic processing is controlled
by the CRON table which lists the schedule of scripts to execute. The
CRON table is located in:
/ops/ws/datastrem/crontbls/cron_datastreme.tbl
All the scripts that create DataStreme products are located in the file:
/ops/ws/datastreme/batch
